rage week 2011: a silver lining

in preparation for my "unpleasant procedure" tomorrow, i'm not allowed to eat anything today. ANYTHING. i guess it's good practice for my new lemon water lifestyle, but i'm predicting it won't be pretty.

thank you to everyone for your supportive comments and emails. bear has already researched hypoallergenic dogs for us and my womb is full of hope again.

in the midst of the ever unfolding farce that is my life there were a few small miracles that appeared in my mailbox with precision timing last week, and i want everyone who's ever sent me cards and treats that my little, black grinch heart grows three sizes when it remembers that i have such thoughtful friends who love me in spite of my rage, irrational thinking, mental illness, soy allergy, etc. it really is more appreciated than you could ever imagine - THANK YOU!

on day three of the power outage a package arrived from my friend melissa. when i opened the box it became apparent that i really do make my needs and wants known to all. subtlety really is not in my vocabulary, is it?

ketchup chips, all dressed ruffles, plum sauce, and cocktail umbrellas - these are a few of my favourite things! the chips were eaten within SECONDS of arriving, and i plan on eating the plum sauce with some soy free quorn chick'n nuggets! as for the umbrellas, they go in everything. EVERYTHING!
thank you so much for my "canadian essentials" care package meliss - it was perfect in every way!

tuesday, after my gastroenterologist appointment when i was in a STATE, was the greatest mail day of all time. cards and treats a plenty made me forget about the "unpleasant procedure" for a brief moment of exuberance.

cb sent me a water colour portrait of myself, as a vampire, at the pumpkin patch! i pretty much died. no one has ever made of portrait of me before, let alone one that so accurately captures my personality in four little words.

look at my neigh neigh sweater! so perfect. thank you cb - who needs letters when you can have pictures??? LOVE IT.

i also received a summer party mix mystery cd from amber blue bird that is chasing my snow storm blues away (i REALLY hope you're not trapped until a snow drift somewhere), halloween cards from otter and hutz, and some mail related treats i ordered for myself from etsy! BOUNTY. i was still revelling in my treats when the UPS man rang the bell. after he told me about how his FIVE cats came in handy during the power outage because it was "like having five little space heaters" he gave me a small mystery package. what was inside?

TEA! an early birthday present from otter, my fellow lover of fancy loose leaf! i recently had a run in with some ASSHOLES at teavana, so now that i have a box filled with delicious david's teas (including the coveted pumpkin chai!) i can tell teavana to go to hell. jerks.

prior to the madness of the last week i also received an amazing halloween letter that basically changed the way i see mail. i want to write more about that later! (thank you merissa!)

again, thank you everyone for keeping my mailbox full of lovely things! it's such a source of bliss for me, you have no idea. well, at this point you're probably starting to get the idea. the people in my life keep me from full-on straight jacket crazy, and i'm SO lucky to have you to balance out the ridiculous.

love and love letters,
so pauvre

I HOPE IT DOESN'T SUCK TOTALLY AND I <3 YOUUU

Also, be careful with the "hypoallergenic dog" thing. It's not the case that any dog can be hypoallergenic. I would just hate for you to find your dream dog and bring it home and love it and find out you still have an allergic reaction to it. Any allergy specialist should be able to help you come up with a way to handle the allergy though. And sometimes, it's certain breeds you will react to more than others. Actually, I found a link that says all this:

Dude! Cb's portrait is AMAZING!!! I love it. I love receiving mail too:) Glad you've got so much love in postal form.

Good luck with everything that's happening and I really hope all that snow moves out of your way.

At least the mail still got through:D

Hahaha Melissa - that is an awesome Canadian gift pack. You should set up an etsy page so all Canadians living abroad can shop.

And soon you'll have me in the mail!! Well, not quite the mail, but a plane that is not much larger than a box.
