soy story

well children, tomorrow is my birthday. and as you know, i decided to give myself the gift of extensive medical testing. for some reason.

so far everything has come back normal, with the exception of that whole severe allergy to everything incident...

i'm still waiting on the results of my wheat intolerance test and i'm REALLY hoping that comes back negative because i love gluten almost as much as i love soy and peanuts (i weep for you tofu summer rolls with peanut dipping sauce).

grocery shopping last week was a farce. i had twenty pages of soy information and it took a hundred years to read EVERY SINGLE INGREDIENT ON EVERY SINGLE PACKAGE. annoying.

did you know that soy is a bastard? because it is. it's ridiculous enough that it's in effing everything, but it also isn't always called soy. i found a forty six item list of ingredients to avoid. you know, not at all inconvenient. it also does terrible, TERRIBLE things to you. like, REALLY bad. and i've been eating a crap load of it for ten years. potential health complications associated with eating too much soy include digestive upset (check), impairment of the body's ability to produce thyroid hormones (check), deficiencies in vitamin B12 and D (check), and disrupted endocrine function resulting in hormonal imbalances (yep, this one too). so basically 90% of my problems.

son of a bitch.

after the last three weeks of madness i'm ready to really enjoy my birthday. last year was ROUGH, and i'm not sorry to see it go. i'm hoping that this year my body will eventually forgive me for poisoning it with soy, it will start to function, and we can live happily, hormonally balanced ever after.

love soy pauvre

Good luck with the soy free life! At least you now know what's causing your problems, you can move onwards & upwards:D

Glad you're seeing the silver lining. You've already started feeling SO MUCH better and it makes me extremely happy. Good thing our trip to Grumpy's for BBQ this weekend will be completely soy free. :)

dam you soy! That must be a bitch but at least you will hopefully start to feel better. Just a FYI that your birthday is on my calendar and I had planned to send you a package but the power outage has me behind but better late than never right? Happy early birthday!
