thanks for nothing

i've never really understood thanksgiving. are you seriously that excited about eating turkey and spending time with your family? because i'm not.

in canada thanksgiving is at the beginning of october, and in america it's at the end of november, so right away i'm confused. and while canadian thanksgiving "celebrates the harvest", american thanksgiving involves cartoon turkeys wearing pilgrim hats for some reason. who the hell knows.

i do, however, enjoy bizarre turkey crafts.

it seems to be a way bigger deal here. people LOVE it. meanwhile i'm thinking, christmas is a month away, then you have to deal with ANOTHER family dinner that will probably involve the exact same meal. and why anyone wants to spend time with their family twice in two months makes no sense to me. at least if it was in october, you'd still have over a month to build your self esteem back up and have at least four therapy sessions before having to "join hands in togetherness" again for christmas. terrible.

i seem to have successfully evaded thanksgiving two years running. last year i was an america during canadian thanksgiving, and in canada during american thanksgiving. this year i was again in america for canadian thanksgiving, and due to unforeseen circumstances, what was to be my first american thanksgiving in america was cancelled. i spent most of the day mentally preparing myself for working on black friday, and eating pie in my undies. i guess technically because there was both mental anguish and pie consumption it actually was thanksgiving after all.

more bitter than your grandma's cranberry sauce,
love so pauvre

Oh lady. Thanksgiving is the best holiday because it is centered around food. You get to stuff yourself, no one gives you crap for going for a second or even a third helping of stuffing and it is okay to pass out immediately after eating. Christmas has the stress of buying people presents and feeling obligated to buy some crap for someone who may or may not even like your gift. Christmas music blows and who cares about jesus who wasnt even really born on dec. 25th........as you can see i dont like christmas very much.......thanksgiving RULES!

God, Black Friday... a more manic version of Boxing Day. I'm glad you made it out alive. I heard there was a pepper spray incident this year somewhere in the US.

I totally have to agree that two holidays right next to each other is a little too much to handle. The mental recovery...wowza, it's intense.

Also, I totally ate pie in my undies too ;)

Pie in your undies = something to be thankful for. :)

I do agree that Thanksgiving and Christmas are too close together! What really stinks.. is when your significant others birthday is at the end of November too.

God I'm Broke.
